Meet the people behind the crafts...

Bren Kirk

Brenda is the founder and owner of Merci Boutique. After spending many a long afternoon creating all manner of accoutrements for friends and family, she decided to put her know-how and "meagerly inspired" designs out there for the general public. When she's not sewing purses, stringing together beads, or doodling in the margins, Brenda spends most of her time earning her keep as a broadcast news editor.

Wendy Dominguez

Two years ago, sitting in a Mexican restaurant with several of her friends, Wendy announced a desire to learn to knit. She bought a book and some practice needles the next week and soon discovered that not only was her new hobby incredibly addictive, but it was also incredibly expensive. She jumped at the chance to sell some of her creations in the boutique, as it will totally justify her numerous trips to the LYS. She lives in Alabama with her teenaged son, a very large German shepherd named Emma and a very tiny Chihuahua named Pippin.

Mac Fish

Mac Fish, author of the Nobel Prize award-winning blog pesky'apostrophe, is a 65 year old model/hermaphrodite who lives with her pet ant colony in the mysterious wilds of Loompaland. She regularly shaves her ant colony to provide the supple fiber that she spins into tall tales of intrigue and fantastic yarn.

Or not.

In reality, Mac is a 33-year-old former alterna-girl who lives with her husband, Mr. Fish, and their pets near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. And she really does write a blog called pesky'apostrophe. While she often dreams of sheep, Mac finds farm animals rather icky. But she does enjoy of the wool, as is evidenced by her constant knitting and spinning. Mac is happy to offer a variety of handspun and hand-dyed yarns for your knitting pleasure. Also look for Mac's handknit items up for sale here from time to time.

In addition to her obsession with fiber arts, Mac is also a found object artist, a skilled book binder, and loves to get dirt under nails in her giant garden.

Adrienne Garner

Adrienne Garner, the self-proclaimed 'awesomest beer cozy queen ever', lives and works in Albany, Georgia. She nurses a lifelong love of beads and shiny objects in general. Requests for custom beer cozies are welcome and should be directed to site management.

Golfwidow

Golfwidow was born in 1971. In 1975, she called her own grandmother a pain in the ass, and has pretty much been speaking her mind ever since. Over the years, she has worked as a pharmaceutical technician, a hotel manager, a computer technician, a help desk drone, and, most recently, a desktop publisher. In her spare time, Golfwidow cooks, paints, etches glass, sews occasionally, sings along badly with loud music, writes copiously about good beer and bad omens, and refers to herself in the third person. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and his golf clubs.

Melissa Stecker

Three years ago, Melissa purchased some cute handmade cards on eBay to support a friend and sent one to her godmother. When her godmother replied to the card with "I have a sneaking suspicion that it was your handiwork on that adorable card," a monster was born.

With the idea that card making would be a great supplement to her ever low earnings as a college student, Melissa set out to perfect her craft. She began by making cards for family members in place of the standard Hallmark greeting. This Spring, she decided that she was ready to enter the marketplace at virtually the same time that Merci Boutique was born.

While she is currently pursuing dreams of a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Melissa secretly hopes that one day (after she's conquered the world) she can retire from the big scary world of working and open her own little shop in her hometown.
